Antique French Cut Crystal & Porcelain Miniature Portrait Patch Box Trinket Box. This little jewel is in excellent condition.

No chips, cracks or loss of paint. A patch was a faux beauty mark. Inside the lid is a mirror for perfect placement! Smallpox affected women's complexion in the 18th century. Because the disease often left pox scars and because women sometimes had acne, moles, or facial defects, it became popular for women to hide or disguise these problems. They did so using patches that were referred to by the French as mouches (flies). This box measures 2" x 1.5". This will be lovingly packed for safe transport.
