These Agates were collected in the 1970's from Agate Creek, Queensland. It is doubtful that the variety of colours and patterns in this lot could be repeated today. The Agate nodules collected were SLABBED into about 4 mm (+-) slices in order to make a a nice clean and FLAT surface on both sides. These SLICES were then SAWED or broken into smaller pieces which were then tumbled. The SAWING process and trimming of INDIVIDUAL pieces caused a high percentage of loss in material and MANY KILOS of Agate was required. The reason for this quite costly exercise in both material, labour and processing, was to produce pieces that were suitable to make into Pendants, Charms and even Earrings which would on the flat surface better show up the Agate pattern. Additionally; the aim was to make jewellery that was one level above some simply CRUSHED and tumbled pieces of Agate made into wire wrapped jewellery. A few pieces has been ground down at one point for attaching the bail. This item is in the category "Collectables\Rocks, Fossils, Minerals\Crystals".
