DANBURY MINT The Fantasy of the Crystal CHESS SET. Complete Wooden Board and 32 pewter pieces in as-new condition, each with a swarovski crystal - from a smoke-free home. Chess board approx 19 inches by 19 inches; 3.5 inches high.

Each piece ranges in height from 2 inches to 3.5 inches. The pieces are all individual (see list below) and very atmospherically and delightfully designed, with the two opposing armies of Light and Darkness being differentiated by circular and hexagonal bases, instead of the usual colours.

The board is a beautiful, rich wood, though you can see from the photos it has some marks, that may be reparable: the correct silver paint may touch up some scuffs and the rings may be removed by more skilful hands than mine. There is a scuff to one of the corners, too - see the penultimate photo.

The board is decorated by gorgeous dragons and pegasi / unicorns, but it is the pieces that make this chess piece so valuable. Circles - The Army of LIght. King: King Arfon the Warrior. Knight: Perenas the Winged Horse. Hexagons: The Army of Darkness.

Pawn: Koki the Black Dwarf. The pieces slot into their own, tailor-made recesses with a protective sheet of fabric on top. The board slots on top and becomes the lid.
